ON SHORT WEST COAST CRUISES

In spring of each year, the major cruise lines move their ships up the west coast to position them for the Alaska cruise season.  And then in the fall, they move them back down the coast for their fall season home ports.  These ship repositionings create an excellent opportunity for us to take short 3-5 day cruises up or down the pacific coast, visiting such ports as Catalina, Monterey, San Francisco, Astoria, and Victoria.  Most north bound cruises depart from Los Angeles or San Diego and arrive in Vancouver; while the south bound cruises depart from Vancouver and arrive in Los Angeles or San Diego.  

Some cruise lines have extended these short repositioning cruises to include stops in Alaska, Canada or Mexico.  These extended cruises are normally 7-14 days.

The cruise lines offering these repositioning cruises are Celebrity Cruise Lines, Carnival Cruise Lines, Disney Cruise Lines, Holland America Lines, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Princess Cruise Lines and Regent Seven Seas.
